What do my prescription values mean?
-
- Please note - Our lab is only able to accept prescriptions with values in intervals of 0.25. If your prescription is not in an interval of 0.25 (0.25, 3.50, 2.75, etc.), or if the prescription is for Eyezen, we would not be able to use this prescription.
- Sometimes, instead of entering a zero value, a doctor will enter a value on your prescription as “Plano” or “D.S”. Anything that is not a number and is not "balance" indicates that it should be a "0".
- “Balance", however, indicates that the same values apply for both eyes.
What if my prescription changes?
-
- Currently, Pair cannot process prescription adjustments. Should you discover within 30 days of receiving your order that your prescription needs updating, please initiate a return or exchange using this link: https://paireyewear.loopreturns.com/#/
- We recommend having a recent prescription when placing your Pair order to avoid any returns or exchanges due to prescription issues. Our PairCare warranty does not cover prescription changes.
- It is not uncommon for prescriptions to change yearly for adults and every few months for children. By purchasing a Pair, you are assuming the risk that your prescription can change over time.

What prescriptions can you fill / accept?
US/CA/AUS: We accept prescriptions from licensed optometrists. Unfortunately, screenshots of values from other eyewear companies cannot be accepted. All prescription frames will require something called a pupillary distance (PD) measurement as well — this is the distance between the pupils in millimeters. Many doctors do not print this information on prescriptions, so if your prescription is missing this information, you will need to obtain it. For more information on PDs and how to obtain them, see the below sections here.
- In order for a prescription to be accepted, it needs to include the following information:
-
-
-
- Name of the patient receiving the Pair.
- Exam date or expiration date (If your prescription is expired, we can accept it, but require your expressed written approval that it is okay)
- Official header from a doctor's office OR a doctor's signature.
- Full prescription photo (please don't crop the photo!)

What is a pupillary distance measurement?
-
- The pupillary distance measurement (or PD measurement) is the distance between the eyes measured in millimeters. This is a necessary requirement used to make prescription glasses.
- Understanding your pupillary distance (PD) is crucial for your glasses as it ensures the perfect fit. By knowing your measurements, you'll be able to align the lenses precisely with your eyes' centers, resulting in crystal-clear vision.
If you're unable to provide a PD value, we are able to use our default average PD option with your approval. Those default averages are as follows:
Women: 62mm
Men: 64mm
How do I measure my pupillary distance?
-
- Some optometry offices include PD in prescriptions. If not, don't worry! You can measure it using our online tool on your order page or directly here. Log in to your account to attach the measurement to your order. If you don't have an account, you can create one using the same link.
- Alternatively, measure your PD at home using a ruler.
What is the average pupillary distance?
US/CA/AUS: Average adult PD ranges from 54-74 mm, while kids' PD falls between 43-58 mm.
GB: Average adult PD ranges from 54-74 mm
Does pupillary distance change overtime?
-
- During youth, a person's pupillary distance may fluctuate due to ongoing physical growth. However, once they reach maturity and cease growing, their pupillary distance typically stabilizes and changes minimally, if at all.
Do you offer kids glasses?
US/CA/AUS: Yes! We have 18 total frame styles, 5 of which are categorized for kids and 13 for adults, though we do find that some of our kids' frames suit smaller adult faces as well.
GB: We understand the importance of providing eyewear for all ages, but as per GB regulations, we cannot legally sell glasses to individuals under the age of 16.
