What is the difference between Sun Tops and Sunglass lenses? |
What are Top Frames?
-
- Top Frames are swappable plastic frames that sit on top of Base Frames. They are lightweight and do not include lenses.
What are Base Frames?
-
- Base Frames are the core style of a frame that you choose, including your lenses. Our stress-tested, hand-polished acetate Base Frames feature a universally fitting nose bridge, adjustable temple arms, and flexible, spring-loaded hinges.
- Several of our Base Frames also have the option for metal temple arms instead of acetate. These will be labelled as "Mixed Material".
- Please note if you have a sensitivity to nickel that there could be some traces of nickel in our Base Frames.
How heavy are Base Frames with a Top Frame attached?
- Base Frames with a Top Frame attached weigh around 17-22 grams.
How are Top Frames connected to Base Frames?
- Top Frames are connected to Base Frames by magnets in the corners, allowing for easy swapping. Our magnets are safe and lightweight, tested and approved by eye doctors.
How can I make adjustments to my Pair?
1. Base Frames:
- If your Base Frame feels loose or slides down your face, a simple solution is to slightly bend the temple arm behind your ear for a snugger fit. Many find this adjustment easy to do at home.
- If you experience your Base Frame slipping down your nose, it could be due to the smoothness of the nose portion of our Base Frames. Fortunately, we offer ear hooks as a solution, available on our accessories page which you can find here: Accessories.
2. Top Frames:
- To adjust your Top Frames, gently curve them to fit onto your glasses. Place the Top Frame design face up towards the ceiling and pinch both fingers to the nose bridge. Then, gently bend the Top Frame down to create a subtle curve.
- You can also visit your doctor's office or local optical shop for assistance. Many optical shops offer minor adjustments either for free or for a small fee. We recommend contacting your local optical shop to inquire about their services. When seeking adjustments, be sure to bring both your Base Frame and any Top Frames you have to ensure a perfect fit.
What is the difference between Sun Tops and Sunglass lenses?
We have two options for fun in the sun with Pair!
The first option is our Sun Tops. Sun Tops will attach to your Base Frame, making it easy to switch from glasses to sunglasses with no issue.
Our sunglasses lenses are an add-on which can be added to either a non prescription Pair or a prescription Pair. This option is permanent, as it will turn your Pair into sunglasses full time.
Both of our Sun Tops and Sunglasses include polarized lenses and offer 100% UVA and UVB protection.
What are Sets?
Sets are pre-made bundles of some of our best Top Frames fitting a certain theme or vibe, like "on-the-move", or "evening out". Our Sets come in bundles of either 3 or 4 Top Frames, and will be available at a discounted price as opposed to buying all the Top Frames separately. The Tops available for our Sets will range from some of our Classics, to Sun Tops, Premium Top Frames, and occasionally even Limited Edition Top Frames. You can view all of our available Sets options here!
In addition, we also offer a Build Your Own Bundle option for customers to take advantage of! These Sets can also be for either 3 or 4 Top Frames (your choice!), and available at a discounted price (10% off 3 Top Sets and 15% of 4 Top Sets). For these, you can build your bundle from a rotating list of some of our most popular Top Frames, including Classics, Sun Tops, Sparkles, and Premium Top Frames. You can view the BYOB option here!
Some quick things to note: Limited Edition Top Frames and Collab/Licensed Top Frames are currently unavailable for Build Your Own Bundle Sets. Additionally, for BYOB and pre-made Sets, Pair Points can only be earned, not redeemed.
What Pair Base Frame should I get?
-
- Pair offers a diverse range of frames that cater to various face shapes and sizes.
- With a total of 22 frame styles
- To help determine the best style for you, we recommend considering the measurements of your current glasses frames, typically found on the inside of the temple arm. Our frame measurements can be found in the Fit Guide under the listing of each frame style. Universally, these measurements will be in a format of three, something similar to 54-17-140 (which are the measurements of our Kirby frames). These three numbers are universally on most glasses, regardless of the brand.
- The first number (54) is the horizontal width of the lenses:
- The second number (17) is width of the bridge of the nose piece:
- And the final number (140) is the length of the arms of the glasses:
Which glasses fit my face shape?
Explore which Pair Base Frame suits your unique face shape best!
-
- Oval Face Shape: With balanced proportions and slightly narrower chin, opt for geometric and round shapes for a flattering look. Square and rectangle frames with soft curves also complement this shape.
- Round Face Shape: Full cheeks and a rounded chin call for angular and geometrical frames to add definition. Rectangle and horizontal styles can create the illusion of a longer, slimmer face.
- Square Face Shape: Angular features with a strong jawline benefit from oval and round frames to soften proportions. Horizontal frames are preferable over vertical ones.
- Heart Face Shape: Wide cheekbones narrowing into the chin pair well with frames that accentuate cheekbones, like modified cateye shapes. Look for frames with a bottom that angles inward for a balanced look.
- Oblong Face Shape: Tall frames create balance for this narrow, elongated shape with angular features and high cheekbones. Opt for frames with a taller height or larger vertical lens measurement.
- Diamond Face Shape: Narrow at the eye line and the jaw line with a smaller forehead and chin. Angular features with dramatic cheekbones. We recommend: Upswept styles like Cateyes and Modified Cateyes that emphasize the cheekbones.
- Triangle Face Shape: Narrow forehead and eyeline that widens at the cheeks and chin. We recommend: Top heavy brow line styles that balance the width of the jawline.
Here are the following sizes for all of our frames, listed in increasing width order from Extra Narrow to Extra Wide, along with their full frame width and the recommended face shape that we think would pair well with the frame. (all measurements provided in mm).

I can’t figure out how to begin to choose a frame. Where is that section f the site?
I really really wish you had small rectangle frames. Any chance they’d be coming in the future?
